In Las Vegas the casino industry is BOOMING!  There are dozens of hotels and high rise condos currently being built and more in the works for the next few years.  I met quite a few guys who pulled up their families and moved to Vegas for $45-$52 an hour construction jobs.  I asked one guy if this was difficult to relocate with the whole family.  He said "yes," but with overtime he was making $150,000 a year.  "Who cares!  In five years I'll go back home with $400,000 cash (after taxes)!"  These high paying jobs are union construction jobs.  Electricians, plumbers, tile setters, general laborers, etc.  They're making buildings and hotel rooms, so basically any job that goes along with building them has openings available.

Have no experience?  This is a true story but I'm not suggesting that you do this.  You should not lie on any applications.  I'm only telling you the story of what this guy I know did.  This guy, we'll call Johnny, laid tile with a friend part time.  He did maybe three houses (ever in his life).  An opening came up with a contractor for tile setters.  Johnny talked to a journeyman tile setter who gave him the basics of what was on the test.  He told everyone he had five years experience and passed the journeyman's test and got his journeyman's card.  Now he makes $25 an hour hauling tile (he takes tiles to the hotel room at the new Venetian hotel) 10 hours a day, but works only six hours a day because he has to wait for a slow elevator.

Because of all the new businesses opening verses the average number of people coming to live in the state, the city of Las Vegas predicts they will have at least 15,000 jobs available within the next three years, but there won’t be enough workers to fill these positions.  Most of these jobs will pay $12-$15 an hour with tips, etc.  I wouldn't be surprised if at least 500 of the jobs paid in the mid $20's per hour.
